Scott Benedetti Named Director of Youth Development
Washington Soccer Academy (WSA) is pleased to announce that Scott Benedetti has been named Director of Youth Development. Benedetti will oversee the Club’s youth soccer development programs.
Scott “Benny” Benedetti was inducted into the Hall of fame at the University of Portland where he played soccer for Clive Charles and was named a first team All American and helped the Pilots make it to the NCAA Final Four. Benny was a member of the US Men’s National Team, played professional soccer for the USL Portland Timbers and the MLS Colorado Rapids as well as playing internationally in the Premera Division de Mexico. Scott holds a National USSF “A” Coaching License and is a former Director of Coaching.
“I’ve known Scott for over 20 years, we played together at the University of Portland, we’ve coached together and I can’t think of a more qualified person to build the WSA Youth Development Program”, commented Gary Osterhage, WSA’s Director of Coaching. "His understanding of the game is second to none, his total commitment to soccer fundamentals and his ability to accomplish high level training while making it fun will benefit our players greatly”.
“The addition of Scott Benedetti as the Director of Youth Development is a huge step forward for the development of 8/9/10 year old soccer players in SW Washington”, said Mike Belzer, WSA’s Director of Premier Soccer. “WSA is the only club in SW Washington with “A” licensed coaches on its staff. Not just one but two as Gary Osterhage is also A licensed! This demonstrates the Club’s commitment to providing the best coaches and training possible to the SW WA soccer community”.

In this newly created position, Benedetti will be responsible for developing and delivering a training curriculum specifically tailored for youth players who’s goal it is to play soccer at the highest levels. WSA – Premier competes in the PDL (Player Development League) which is comprised of the Top 20 soccer clubs in the State of Washington. For those youth players (8/9/10 year olds) who strive to play at the top level some day the new WSA Youth Development Program, lead by Scott Benedetti, is just the ticket to success!
