Second Year Straight United 96 Makes Finals!
On a crisp Sunday afternoon, United 96 faced the obstacle of Eastside FC for a spot in the 2009 U12 State Cup final. Both teams appeared poised and eager to push through as the official began the game with an Eastside FC kicks off. At the end of the first half, United 96 led 1-0 (goal by Natalie Nuval), even though Eastside FC had a majority of the ball possession.

As the second half whistle blew, each team mirrored an image of determination and desire, with a slight edge leaning toward the better second half team, United 96. Approximately 15 minutes into the second half, Rachel Wildeson delivered a rocketing shot against Eastside FC, as the ball brushed off the goalie’s finger tips into the goal, giving United 96 a 2-0 lead.

The electricity filled the air, as Eastside FC charged through the second half determined to fight back. Fortunately, Eastside FC received one last devestating blow, a beautiful ball from the midfield up toward Natalie Nuval, who riffled the ball into the back of the net with one last power kick against the goalie, securing United 96’s place in next week’s state cup final game.

United 96 emerged winners, with a final score of 3-0, Emma Jimenez picking up the shut out, providing a phenomenal, impenetrable last line of defense. So, for the second consecutive year, Untied 96 willed there way into the final game. Excellent team work United 96!
