ATTENTION WSA PREMIER PLAYERS

Friday Tech Trainings Are Back!

(September 9th to October 28, 2011)

 

Come join the WSA Technical Trainers, Ross Blanchard & Max von Rabenau, for a series of fun filled technical trainings to sharpen your skills. This exclusive training opportunity is free to all Premier level WSA players. Don’t miss out on this outstanding training.

 

When:   Fridays starting September 9th to October 28th.

Where:  Goot Park

Time:    4:30 – 6:00 pm

 
Technical Training Outline:

1.      Warmup with variations of the basic dribbling/passing and receiving techniques (10 minutes)

2.      Speed & Agility Fitness (15 - 20 minutes)

3.      Tech Topic (60 minutes)

 
Each session will be progressive covering everything from individual fundamentals to match conditions. Below is the key for you to see the key components of each session:
  • ·       Warm Up (WU)
  • ·       Stage 1 (S1) Fundamentals
  • ·       Stage 2 (S2) Match Relation
  • ·       Stage 3 (S3) Match Conditions
 

Tech Topic Schedule:

September 9th - Bent/Low Driven balls

·       (WU) Work with partner

o   Playing bent/driven ball with both feet

o   Focus on proper technique.

·       (S1) 4 team challenge

o   2 teams work to play bent ball with left & right into goal from endline while 2 teams work to play low driven ball at target in goal with left & right from 18yds out

o   2 minute rotations, most goals/targets hit wins, losing teams does work.

·       (S2) Drive, bend, finish

o   Groups of 3

o   Player A plays low driven ball out wide

o   Player B settles, plays bent ball across looking to bend it behind player C while player A makes run towards goal.

o   Rotate lines/sides.

·       (S3) Back to back Goals 

o   2 goals placed back to back

o   40x40 field on each goal

o   Team A and Team B have 6 players on each side

o   Teams can score from driven/bent ball played from one field to other.

o   Add restrictions on foot, left only etc.  Add multiple balls.

 
September 16th  – Shooting with both feet

·       (WU) Dynamic warm up with variations of running exercises and then stretch

·       (S1) Work with partner

o   Punts to each other with laces

o   Drop kicks using laces

o   On the ground lace hits

o   Alternate feet with each activity

·       (S2) Finishing Circuit

o   Player A dribbles, beats obstacle, shoots on goal, then receives pass from player B and has one time shot

o   Player B then checks to player C, 12 pass to corner where player C passes on the ground to player D and has one time shot

o   If player D misses then player E takes shot

o   Rotate lines Stations A>B>C>D>E>A

·       (S3) 6v6 Scrimmages with goalies

o   No restrictions

 

    September 23rd - 1v1 defending

·       (WU) 1v1 Shadow play

o   Work w/partners

o   Focus on proper body positioning

·       (S1) 1v1 battles

o   1 min, passive defense, force player out of 10x5 grid without touching ball

o   C’s of defending – communicate, close, contain, commit.

·       (S2) Gauntlet 1v1’s

o   Groups of 5

o   Each player tries to defend others in group one after another

o   When ball is won or player beats defender, the next player goes.

·       (S3) Flying changes, 1v1

o   2 teams of 5

o   Scoring team brings new player on, defender remains until they score or ball goes out of play.

 
September 30th  – Attacking Principles

·       (WU) Tag Speed Races

·       (S1) Passing Combinations

o   Short, Short, Long

o   Follow your pass

o   Wall pass, 12 pass

·       (S2) 2v1 Combination Play to dribble in End Zone

o   Defender plays to one of the attackers

o   Attackers must touch the ball twice each forcing them to do combo plays and not just dribble to the End Zone

o   After required touches on the ball then attackers must dribble into End Zone and attackers gain 1 point (Players keep track of points)

o   If defender knocks it out then they deny attacker’s points

o   Switch defenders/attackers after 57 minutes

·       (S3) “Missing Corners of the Field” 6v6 Scrimmage

o   Any balls played into the corner of the field is out (The players realize how important space is when reducing the size of the field)

o   After 1015 minutes remove restriction and open up the field

o   Looking then for plays to corners or to space

 
October 7th - Controlling out of the air

·       (WU) Ball work w/partners

o   One player throws the ball to other player

o   Control using laces

o   Inside/outside of foot

o   Chest and thigh

·       (S1) Circle traps with man on

o   Groups of 3

o   One player throws the ball in the air

o   One controls out of the air

o   The other applies pressure.

·       (S2) Throwin Matches

o   20x5 grid with one goal at the end

o   Defender throwsin the ball

o   The forward must control out of the air, turn, and then try to go to goal while defender tries to sprint and stop the forward

o   2 points for dribbling through the goal

o   1 point for stopping the forward

o   This can be tournament style, players move up and move down.

·       (S3) "Throwin Fever"

o   2 team scrimmage with four players as designated throwers

o   Forward must first pass to a thrower, they then throw the ball in and the forward tries to score.

 
October 14th  – 3 Magical Moves

·       (WU) Dribble around field with ball using only inside, outside, laces, and bottom of foot then stretch

·       (S1) Dribbling Stations

o   1,2, and 3 stations focus on the shoulder dip

o   4,5, and 6 stations focus on the scissor move

o   7,8, and 9 stations focus on the spin move

·       (S2) 1v1 Dribble to End Zone

o   Defender passes to Attacker

o   Attacker must try a move before dribbling into End Zone

·       (S3) 4v4 Tournament with prizes for winners

o   Split the big field into 6 small fields of 30x40 yards

o   Goal size 3 yards and ball must pass cleanly through in order for it to be a goal

o   4 to 5 players to a team allowing one sub

o   No goalies

o   First to 3 goals or most goals in 5 minutes

o   Teams in blue stay in the grid, teams in yellow will rotate

o   Teams will play 3 games total; teams with most wins plays in final match

 
October 21st - Transition play

·       (WU) Short, short, long

o   Groups of 3, 2 touch, 1 touch – left/right foot

o   Quality first touch, communication & movement off ball

·       (S1) End zone game

o   Target player in each end zone

o   Teams score by playing ball into target and receiving back

o   Alternate direction w/each point

·       (S2) 3v2 Break

o   Field divided in half

o   2 defenders in each half

o   Wide players at midfield, central play at each goal

o   Central player breaks with ball towards opposite end

o   2 wide players join in attack vs. defenders on far side

o   Upon goal or ball out of play, opposite central player breaks out and wide players join.

·       (S3) Goals and Gates

o   6v8 + 2 keepers

o   Two goals, two gates out wide

o   Team of 8 can score at either goal

o   Team of 6 scores by dribbling through either wide gate.

 
October 28th  – Finishing in Final Third

·       (WU) Relay Races to 618Half186Full Field

o   6 or more teams

·       (S1) Combination Play to Goal

o   Player 1 wall passes with Player 2

o   Player 1 dribbles then wall pass with Player 3

o   Player 1 shoots on goal

o   After 5 minutes swap players 2 & 3

·       (S2) 2v1 Race to Score

o   Apply offsides

o   2 Teams

o   2 Attackers & 1 Defender

o   Team must score before other team scores in order to count a point

o   Both teams go at the same goal and at the same time

·       (S3) Finish in the 18 Box

o   6 teams of 3 or more

o   2 Teams play at a time one defends, one attacks

o   If defending team clears ball outside 18 box then attacking team goes out and defending team becomes new attacking team

o   If attacking team scores then defending team goes out and new defending team comes on.
